What you need to get started:
- Pen or pencil
- Preferably physical notebook or journal (you can print out your Power Planner for this)
(It is not the end of the world if you end up using the Notion version of the Power Planner.
Part 1 - 3 Steps To Doing Focused Work
Step 1: Brain Dumping
- In short, you write down everything that is on your mind. Tasks, thoughts, ideas, etc.
- If done correctly - you should NOW have a list of everything you have to do, and your mind should feel clear.
Step 2: Categorize
- We will categorize what you've written down and prioritize them.
- Example categories: business, household, fitness, recovery.
- The Eisenhower Matrix
- This can be challenging: ask people for deadlines, question yourself, and "flip a coin" if you cannot figure out what you need to prioritize.
- You should come away with 2-5 things in each category that you have to work on within the next few days. (You can prioritize in the Power Planner.)
Step 3: Time Blocking (and scheduling)
- You want to plan specific times for specific tasks
- Put this on your calendar or in your Power Planner
